Nuneaton & Bedworth Borough Council has announced a programme of essential maintenance at Nuneaton Town Hall and Bedworth Civic Hall, with works scheduled to begin in late August.
Nuneaton Town Hall roof replacement
Three areas of the Town Hall roof will be replaced. Scaffolding will be erected to the rear of the building, making approximately six parking bays unavailable for the duration of the project. This includes existing disabled parking bays.
The council is exploring options to provide temporary accessible parking facilities where practicable. Access to the rear entrance will be maintained throughout the works.
Subject to final confirmation, work is scheduled to start on Monday, 24 August, and is expected to take approximately eight weeks.
Bedworth Civic Hall chimney removal
Following an inspection, the existing chimney at Bedworth Civic Hall has been identified as requiring removal for safety reasons.
The contractor will require use of part of the parking area, together with the adjacent yellow hatched section, to accommodate a skip and debris chute. This area will be unavailable for approximately four weeks, with occupation expected to start on Monday, 10 August, to allow for site establishment.
Chimney works are scheduled to start on Monday, 17 August, and are expected to take approximately two to three weeks subject to weather conditions and site progress.
Cllr Jake Groves, Portfolio Holder for Town Centre Regeneration and Business Development, said: "We will work with the contractor to minimise disruption wherever possible and will ensure that any affected parties are notified in advance of the temporary parking restrictions."
