Nuneaton Town extended their winning streak to six matches in all competitions on Saturday afternoon with a 2–0 victory away at Rugby Borough in the PitchingIn Northern Premier League Division One Midlands.

Goals from Terry Atem and Bradley Stretton secured the win at the Nationwide Windows Arena, maintaining Town's push towards the top of the table while condemning Rugby Borough to a fifth consecutive defeat.

How the match unfolded

Nuneaton struck first on the half-hour mark. Charlie Jones's ball found Eesa Sawyers, who flicked possession to release Terry Atem. Atem beat two defenders and fired a low finish beyond goalkeeper Harvey Randle to give Town a deserved 1–0 lead at the break.

After the restart, Bradley Stretton came close to doubling the advantage but was denied by Randle. Stretton finally found the net in the 78th minute, however. Following a short corner, his low-driven strike navigated through a crowd of defenders and passed between Randle's legs to make it 2–0 and settle the contest.

Gabriel Bajrami made a notable save from close range for Nuneaton early in the match, preventing Rugby Borough from threatening the visitors' goal.
