Sutton Coldfield Town was formed in 1879 and have played at Coles Lane since the 1930s. The ground suffered significant damage from a large fire in the 1950s, leading to financial struggles. They joined the West Midlands (Regional) League in 1979 and the Southern League in 1982, winning division 1 at the first attempt before being relegated the following season.
They remained in the Southern League until 2010 when they transferred to the Northern Premier League Division 1 South due to geographical boundary changes. Sutton Coldfield won their first Birmingham Senior Cup in 2011 and installed a 3G pitch at Coles Lane that summer. They achieved promotion to the Premier Division in 2015 but were relegated in 2018, where they have remained.
