Justin Marsden has decided to step away from his role at Nuneaton Town FC, the club has confirmed. Marsden played an important part in the club's journey since its formation, working both as a player and coach and helping guide Nuneaton Town to back-to-back league titles and promotions.

Marsden's contribution to the club

Marsden's experience, dedication and commitment were described as invaluable during a significant period for the club. Rebuilding a football club from scratch presented challenges that Marsden helped overcome, both on the pitch and behind the scenes. The club said everyone at Nuneaton Town wanted to place on record their thanks to Marsden for everything he contributed.

Joint managers Russ Dodd and Darren Acton paid tribute to Marsden's work. "We would like to say a massive thank you to Justin for everything he has done in supporting and working alongside the management team to help the club achieve what it has today," they said. "Justin has been brilliant for us over the last few years, as a player, an assistant and, most importantly, as a person."

Marsden's message to supporters

In a message to supporters, Marsden reflected on his time at the club across two chapters of his career. "Stepping away from the club is difficult because this has never just been about football. It has been about the people, the environment, the friendships, the memories, the standards, and a shared belief in achieving something," he said.

Marsden highlighted the back-to-back promotions from his first spell, describing "big games, big moments, and a group of players who simply refused to accept anything less than success." He noted that returning to the club years later revealed "that same spirit" that led to back-to-back league titles.

"Those achievements will always mean a huge amount to me because they weren't achieved by individuals. They were achieved by a group of people pulling in the same direction — the management team, the players, every volunteer, all behind the scenes but most importantly you, the fans, the heartbeat of the club," Marsden said.

He added: "I've given as much as I could to Nuneaton Town, and I leave with no regrets — just gratitude. Gratitude for the opportunities. Gratitude for the friendships. Gratitude for the memories."

The club said Marsden will always be welcome back at Nuneaton Town.
