Nuneaton Town FC have signed centre back Jacob Shilton, 18, from Hinckley AFC. The young defender will compete for a starting place at Step 4 as the club continues to invest in youth development.
Shilton broke into Hinckley's first team at 16 and was a regular in their defensive line last season. He has also played for Atherstone Town.
Shilton's ambitions
"I'm really pleased to sign for Nuneaton Town," Shilton said. "It's a big club with a fantastic following, and I'm looking forward to working hard and showing everyone what I can do.
"I'm ambitious, I want to keep improving, and hopefully I can play my part in building on the success the management team and players have achieved over the past two seasons."
Management backing
Joint manager Russell Dodd said: "Darren and I have watched Jacob play several times, and he already possesses so many qualities at such a young age. He's a fantastic prospect, and I have no doubt he'll continue to develop alongside experienced players like Robbo (Aaron Roberts) and Softs (Luke Softley).
"It's another example of us bringing youth into the team — players who can progress and grow alongside the football club."
Shilton will be eligible to make his debut at Saturday's FA Trophy 1st Qualifying Round tie at Lincoln United. Nuneaton Town have thanked Hinckley AFC for their cooperation in arranging the transfer.
