Nuneaton Town's Emirates FA Cup journey ended in the First Qualifying Round after a 2-0 defeat away at Step 3 side Bromsgrove Sporting. The match was played in front of an attendance of 915.

Joint-managers Darren Acton and Russell Dodd made three changes to the starting lineup following Monday's defeat at Sutton Coldfield. Josh Green returned from injury to replace cup-tied Shilton, while Liam Murphy came back into the side in place of Terry Atem. James Harrison replaced Charlie Jones, who dropped to the bench. The team also featured former Rouslers appearance record-holder Aaron Roberts and Luke Softley, who returned to Bromsgrove for the first time following their summer move to Nuneaton.

First Half

Nuneaton nearly took the lead within 60 seconds of kick-off. A deflected effort looked destined for the back of the net, but former Nuneaton Borough stopper Tony Breeden made a brilliant save. The rebound fell loose but Liam Murphy could not reach it before a defender scrambled the ball to safety.

Nuneaton were comfortably the better team in the opening exchanges. Bromsgrove found their footing as the half progressed, with a powerful strike forcing Finn Osborn into a fine reaction save. The match became a closely contested affair as Nuneaton's backline stood firm, limiting Bromsgrove's opportunities while Town posed threats on the counter down the flanks. The sides went into half-time level at 0-0.

Second Half

The battle continued in the second half, with little to separate the two sides for close to 60 minutes. Nuneaton matched their higher league opponents stride for stride across the pitch. Terry Atem replaced Liam Murphy in the 64th minute as the managers looked to shift the dynamics of the match.

Bromsgrove took the lead in controversial fashion just minutes later when a corner was whipped into the danger zone and Ollie Harrison rose highest to head home in the 69th minute. Nuneaton players complained for a foul on goalkeeper Finn Osborn, but nothing was given and the goal stood.

Nuneaton refused to let their heads drop and looked to manufacture a route back into the tie. Bradley Stretton unleashed a curling effort from distance in the 83rd minute, but it flashed wide of the post. Billy Shaw sealed the victory for Bromsgrove with a goal in the 83rd minute.
