Nuneaton Museum & Art Gallery is hosting the Eccentric Contraptions exhibition from Saturday, 25 July to Saturday, 19 September. The display features over 100 historical artifacts loaned from a private collection of more than 3,500 items.
The collection was built over 30 years by Maurice Collins, who specialises in sourcing quirky everyday gadgets from the past. Each artifact on display was originally designed to make everyday life easier for its users, though many will puzzle modern visitors.
What to expect
The exhibition showcases labour-saving devices spanning 150 years of history. Visitors are invited to work out the use of each gadget on display. The variety on show is intended to amaze, confuse and surprise visitors of all ages.
Activities and visiting
Young visitors can take part in free craft activities at the museum on Thursdays and Fridays during the school holidays. Admission to the museum is free, though donations are welcome.
